Scott Good is the owner of Goodco Mechanical in State College, Pa. He started the company in 2008 and has 60 employees performing commercial and residential Plumbing and HVAC work throughout Central Pa. Scott has been involved on the ABC Central Pa Board for the past 5 years, and recently completed a 2-year stint as Board Chairman.
In early November 2017, Goodco was served with a statewide investigating grand jury subpoena for documents relating to how the company was paying its employees on Prevailing Wage projects. At that time, Goodco had not been approached by the Pa Department of Labor & Industry regarding any complaints by any employees, nor have they to this day. Shortly thereafter, the IBEW held an NLRB election to organize the company’s electricians, which Goodco lost.
In December 2018, Scott testified before the Grand Jury in Pittsburgh. In September 2019, the Office of Attorney General’s new Fair Labor Section filed charges against Goodco and Scott personally, allegedly based on Prevailing Wage violations. This is the first time in the 59-year history of the Prevailing Wage Act that anyone has been charged criminally in connection with an alleged violation of the Act. As of the time of this writing, the case has been bound over for court in the Commonwealth and they await the next steps in the legal process. Scott and Goodco are fighting this unprecedented overreach by the Attorney General’s office and will continue to stand up for what is right and fair. They look forward to proving their innocence and stopping this assault on merit shop contractors in the state.
