EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION

ABC contractor members submit their outstanding projects in the Excellence in Construction competition.  Categories include General Contractor (commercial, institutional, historical, renovation, etc.), Electrical Contractors (commercial, institutional, and industrial), Mechanical Contractors (commercial, institutional, and industrial) and Specialty Contractors (interior, exterior, sitework, highway, etc.).  A panel of architects then judge each project based on the following: project scope, narrative, safety, merit shop opportunities, references, entry appearance, photography, etc.

Up to two construction projects in each subcategory are eligible for Awards of Merit, with the contractor, architect, and owner of each Award of Merit-winning project receiving an engraved pinnacle acrylic.  One Award of Merit winner in each category may be eligible for the Award of Excellence (otherwise known as the Eagle Awards) to signify ABC of Western Pennsylvania’s highest construction honor and free enterprise.  The judges for this year’s program were Matthew Franz of HHSDR Architects & Engineers, Max Mavrovic of Mavrovic Architects, and Paul Zippel of Studio Z Architects.
